Wealden Draft Local Plan
Wealden District Council are preparing the next stage of the Local Plan for the Wealden District (excluding the South Downs National Park). The Local Plan sets out Wealden District Council’s vision and planning policies for future development, including housing, employment, infrastructure, and environmental protection. Once adopted, it will guide planning decisions across the district.
The consultation is scheduled to run from 6th February to the 20th March 2026. During this time, Wealden will be seeking views from residents, businesses, landowners, and other stakeholders on the draft proposals.
How you can get involved
- Wealden are organising 10 in-person exhibitions during the middle four weeks of the consultation. These exhibitions will give you an opportunity to view the draft Local Plan documents and speak to council officers.
- 18 deposit points across the district (including Wealden District Council Offices in Hailsham and East Sussex County Council Offices in Lewes) will hold hard copies of the consultation documents for anyone who wishes to view them in person.
- The plan will be viewable from Tuesday 10th February at Horam Parish Council during the following days:

Horam Parish Council have prepared a list of the Policies and Questions from the Local Plan
There is also the Response Form to the Local Plan which after completing needs to be returned to Wealden District Council or dropped into the Horam Centre by Thursday 19th March please.
Fight the Over-Development in Horam which was presented to the Public Meeting on Thursday 12 February by Horam Parish Council
and the Landscape Sensitivity Report for Land South of Horam which was prepared for Horam Parish Council.
